Book Review: New York, Actually by Sarah Morgan

Book cover for New York, Actually

Hey everyone! I have another cool book to tell you all about. After the last book that I read set in New Hampshire, I was excited to get back to good old New York City. I also decided it was about time I read another chick-lit book. I’m a sucker for a good romance. Maybe if I wasn’t a spinster over here, I could move on from the genre, but since that isn’t the case, I’ll take the romance from wherever I can get it. This time I’m getting it from Sarah Morgan’s book New York, Actually. I read that the main character Molly has a dog and that the love interest, Daniel, borrows a dog to try to capture her attention. You know reading “romance” and “dogs,” had me sold. Done and done.

Daniel spies Molly in Central Park running with her dog and decides to borrow a dog from his sisters’ dog business called “The Bark Rangers.” Love that name! This does capture her attention, however, Molly’s interest in getting involved with any man beside her pooch, Valentine, is zero. You see, Molly ran away from her old life in England. She still hasn’t gotten over the fall out from her last relationship. Molly’s convinced she’s bad news for any man and is determined to stay away from them.

Daniel is determined too. He’ll stop at nothing to get into her…I won’t say it, but yeah, Daniel’s intentions might not be so pure. Can this charmer knock down her walls and get her to drop her…👀? And will Molly chip away at the armor that engulfs Daniel’s heart? You’ll have to read it to find out.

My Thoughts:

This book had me thoroughly entertained. I wanted something light and fun, which this was. The characters intrigued me, I wondered what Molly could be hiding and about Daniel’s relationships toward women. He doesn’t take the women he dates seriously, however, he cares strongly for the other women in his life, mainly his sisters, but also his co-workers and the women he represents as a divorce attorney. This character development sets us up to believe he’d be the perfect guy for Molly. We do want her to find someone deserving of her after all. We definitely root for them.

This book had everything I need in a good chick-lit book and more (*cough*dogs)! It had humor, a heroine I can live vicariously through as she navigates the rough terrain of love, and it had a good looking, caring man. Yup, it was just what I needed.

If you’re looking for a little romance, have a soft spot for dogs, and New York City, then this book is for you!

As always, without further ado, check out the sneak peek of my tour of NYC inspired by this book.

I hope all the pics loaded this time.

  3. My biggest problem with the book was that the name Molly caused me to picture a heroine that ended up being nothing like the final reveal. I guess that’s the chance you take as an author. Somebody somewhere is going to have issues with whatever names you chose.

I’ll be interested in the locations for your tour. As I was reading, I kept thinking, hmmm not very specific with the geography in this scene. I wonder what LD will do for a photo. #LiteraryDatesBookClub

    1. Interesting! I didn’t really think about her name that much. Now I’m trying to remember what her actual name is and I can’t remember. I have to look that up now. Molly is her middle name if I remember correctly.

Yeah, the books don’t always have specific spots but I can still use it to inspire what I do for the day. And actually there were a few spots that are real spots in NYC. Hopefully I’ll get the post out soon!
Thank you for reading! I like that hashtag. 🙂
